UV-cured systems are the first choice when it comes to ecofriendly alternatives to solvent-based coatings. But there is a drawback: resistance to chemicals is definitely not their strong point. A new application of a tried and tested Evonik Industries product fixes this problem.


TAICROS® for UV-curable Coatings Using TAICROS® , a proven crosslinking booster, as an additive in UV-curable clearcoat formulations gives them excellent resistance to chemicals. Also, the chemical structure of TAICROS® contributes to improved mechanical properties, with obvious benefits in terms of intercoat adhesion in multilayer coating systems. 

TAICROS® improves the stability and resistance of radiation-cured coatings in the most diverse applications. For automotive clearcoats, for instance, this means effective shielding against chemical onslaughts, be it from acid rain or the local carwash. TAICROS® also offers optimum protection for furniture surfaces against aggressive cleaning chemicals.

TAICROS® is a tried and tested crosslinking additive that has been in use for over a decade in various applications in the plastics and rubber industry, including protective films for photovoltaic cells. Together with the Fraunhofer Institute, Evonik has now developed innovative formulations that significantly augment the properties of UV-curable clearcoats, and translate into real benefits in other radiation-cured coating systems as well.

TAICROS®

is a three-functional crosslinker and reactive diluent for highly chemical resistant radiation-curable coatings. 

TAICROS® provides the following properties for high performance applications:
